Like you, I'm watching Jimmy Fallon with a great amount of hope and best wishes. It really does seem like he gets tech and wants to share his enthusiasm.

Sometimes, especially when he's doing the usual "standup stuff," I get worried that Jimmy might fall into doing some things just because they're expected in the "late night" genre.

Whatever happens, Jimmy Fallon is a very welcome improvement over Conan -- his infantile brand of humor never appealed to my 50+yrold brain.

BTW -- miss your everyday presence on BOL

I agree completely. This spans across many different areas as well. I've always felt if someone is giving it an honest go combined with likeability I can't help but root for them. My cousin and his band (The Willis) were lucky enough to be asked to perform on one of Jimmy Fallon's test shows last week and therefore was already a little biased. I was lucky enough to attend that show and Jimmy unveiled a segment that endeared him just a bit more where he talks tech with Joshua Topulsky (sp?) from Engadget. I got a greater sense, after seeing that test show, that it wasn't just an honest effort on twitter (or good taste in music) but a true passion for some of the geekier things in life.
