I taped an interview with CNBC’s “On the Money” today, to talk about this super-interesting story about Apple and Wal-Mart possibly in talks to come up with a deal that would give Wal-Mart a little kickback from iTunes movie downloads. There’ve been some rumors over the past week that Wal-Mart has been putting pressure of the “nation’s largest retailer” variety on movie studios to keep them from signing on with iTunes, which sells movies for less than you can get them at Wal-Mart. And, evidently, it’s been working, if Mad Dog Steve Jobs is headed to the table to talk about giving Wal-Mart in-store coupons that give them a cut of every sale. Seriously, who actually runs this country? Because I’ve got a sneaking suspicion it’s not the W in the White House, if you catch my drift.
(You’re getting all this backstory because, I suspect, the 10-minute taped interview will result in about a 10-second soundbite. OtM airs at 4 p.m. Pacific, 7 p.m. Eastern.)Read more →
